WHO ARE YOU?
Hello! I'm Sophie, I'm 21 years old and am studying English Lit & Philosophy at university. I am extremely passionate about ethical consumption whether that be food, beauty products or ethical fashion, and sharing my adventures! Find out more about me here, check out my videos here, and all my other social media links are in my blog header.

HOW CAN YOU AFFORD TO TRAVEL?
During my gap year, I had a full time job for just over 8 months, as well as savings from previous jobs over the past few years and birthday & christmas money etc , all my travels are self-funded and often spontaneous. When I travelled America I was on a study abroad program living in Chicago for 5 months, followed by self-funded travel. You can find out more about them over on my youtube channel

WHAT CAMERA DO YOU USE?
I film all of my youtube videos and take the majority of my pictures on a Canon Powershot G7x, or my iPhone 6S.

WHAT IS VEGANISM?
Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.

WHEN DID YOU BECOME VEGAN?
The official date I stopped eating any animal products was 8th October 2014 however it was over the next few months that I also stopped purchasing any animal-tested products and as of now I do not own any.

HOW DID YOU TRANSITION TO VEGANISM?
I moved from being a meat eater to a pescetarian in June 2014, this lasted for around 3 weeks before becoming a vegetarian in July. On October 7th I watched the documentary Earthlings for the first time and the next day I ditched all animal products to become vegan and I have been a vegan ever since. Ditching all animal products pretty much overnight was a lot easier than I had expected and I think going from meat eater to vegan in just a few months was the best decision for me.

HOW CAN I TRANSITION TO VEGANISM?
Like ripping off a plaster, eating a plant-based diet is a lot easier if you commit fully and submerge yourself straight into it. This way you are forced to find vegan alternatives and you will not have to ween yourself off vegetarian substitutes that aren't suitable for vegans. However if you are living with people who have very different views on the topic and they are in charge of your meals then gradually transitioning is probably the best option. Calmly explain to those around you why you want to go vegan and emphasise that it is in fact your choice, if people are unsupportive of you then always remember WHY you want to make this change to your lifestyle.
